The ELD mandate deadline is fast approaching. If you’re watching the calendar countdown to December 18, 2017 with dread, we’ve got a solution to help you and your business. You might not realize this, but the ELD mandate from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) allows three phases of implementation. The purpose is to give fleets time to adapt and transition to an electronic logging device (ELD) system while still meeting the minimum criteria.

While AOBRD — the ELD predecessor — is the previous acceptable technology, the FMCSA ELD mandate allows drivers to use an AOBRD for the next two years. You can use an AOBRD from December 18, 2017 to December 2019 as long as it was installed prior to December 18, 2017.
