You follow the rules, do what you’re required to do as a driver, and keep yourself safe out on the roads, which makes it frustrating when you discover you’re in violation of the 30-minute break rule on a technicality. Instead of taking 30 minutes, you actually took 29 minutes.
There’s got to be a better way, right? There is! It’s the Break Button feature in the Gorilla Safety app.
How the Break Button Works
When you’re on the road, the break button allows you to set a countdown timer once you start your break. You avoid coming back a minute or even a few seconds too early, and you avoid unnecessary (and costly) violations. Even better, it keeps you from losing track of time, too, so you don’t go over.
To use the break button:
- Open the Gorilla Safety app
- Tap “Off Duty”
- Make sure you’re in the “Break” tab
- It tells you how much time until your next break, too.
- Tap the button that says “Tap here to start break”
A countdown will begin, and you’ll be alerted when your break is over.
Don’t get caught on a small technicality or find yourself arguing with your team later. The Gorilla Safety app provides the tools you need to stay in compliance and get your job done, easier and more efficiently.
Why It Matters
Violations waste time and money. Once the break violation is discovered, you have to deal with the hassle of an inspector looking deeper, and asking plenty of questions. Then there’s the conversation with your fleet manager. All because your break lasted 28 minutes or worse, 29 minutes and 30 seconds. Avoid the hassle and use the tools at your disposal.
The Gorilla Safety app offers an easy-to-use and affordable ELD to keep drivers and fleets in compliance. But it also makes drivers’ jobs easier and saves everyone time and money. If your current ELD system doesn’t give you something as simple as a break button, what other features are you missing out on?
